AI visibility

Can I pay to get AI to recommend my business?

Everyone who remembers how Google Ads works asks this. The answer is short, and for most businesses it is good news.

Short answer. No. There is no ad slot inside an assistant’s answer, any more than there is a paid slot in a friend’s recommendation. What you pay for is the work that gives a model something to read, not the mention itself.

Why that is good news

In Google Ads the winner is whoever pays more per click. A chain with a budget pushes a local garage off the top, regardless of which is better.

A model runs no auction. It has a question and a handful of pages to read. It picks the businesses it can say something specific about and whose details look credible. Budget is not an entry point.

In practice that means a small business that properly completes its profile, aligns its details and puts customer answers on its site can be named more often than a chain with fifteen listings holding nothing but an address.

What to watch for when choosing a supplier

  • A promised position. An assistant answer has no positions, so none can be promised. It is the first sign somebody is selling something they do not understand.
  • A score out of a hundred. Ask where the number came from. If it came from running your site through somebody’s model, it is an estimate, not a measurement.
  • No raw answers. If a report says 33 percent and you cannot read the sixty answers behind it, there is nothing to check.
  • A twelve-month contract up front. The first changes appear after four to eight weeks. There is no reason to commit for a year before anyone has seen a number.

Our prices are stated plainly on the Pricing page, along with what is included. The measurement is free and always will be, because without it there is no honest conversation about the work.

Is it worth it at all

It depends on the trade. If customers look for you close to home and ask things like "where should I eat", "who can fix", "where can I book", then every one of those questions put to an assistant is a question where your name or a neighbour’s comes up.

If you sell to businesses, through tenders or a field sales team, assistant visibility matters marginally to you today. We will say so plainly if that is how the scan comes out.

Start by finding out where you stand. The free scan needs no card and no call, and ends in a report holding a number and the full answers it came from.

Find out whether the assistants name your business

We ask ChatGPT three of your customers’ questions and show you the full answers with timestamps. You get the result straight away, no card.
